If there is one tool that can help you transform your drawers unlike any other, it is a drawer divider. A drawer divider allows you to subdivide larger categories of items into smaller ones, giving items a true home and keeping them organized. Finding the drawer divider that is right for you can sometimes be difficult because there are so many options. For that reason, I'm going to showcase the three main drawer dividing options: custom, off-the-shelf and DIY.

Custom drawer divider inserts

Custom drawer divider inserts come in a variety of materials, but the most common are acrylic, plastic and wood. Custom is a great option for someone building or remodeling a home. It can often be as simple as purchasing an accessory that has been designed to work with the newly installed cabinets and drawers. While there are a lot of expenses going into a home when you are building or remodeling, I encourage purchasing custom inserts as you are building and moving in as it helps smooth the transition and the benefits are long-lasting.

Custom dividers are still a great option even if you're not building your home. The greatest benefit to custom is you can get the exact fit that you need for a drawer. Usually the process is as easy as getting your dimensions and then special ordering the inserts you need. There are many companies that meet the demand for custom drawer dividers and a simple google search for "custom acrylic (or wood, etc.) drawer dividers" will provide you with several options to choose from.

Off-the-shelf drawer dividers

If custom drawer inserts are not something you prefer, there are many off-the-shelf drawer dividers available. Below is an example of simple spring loaded drawer inserts that can be "customized" to your space within a degree of inches. DIY Drawer Inserts

If you're wanting the convenience of a drawer insert, but would like to build it yourself, there are several ways you can do that. For as little as $5, you can build a drawer insert out of wood.
